ATTRACTIONS
Kliprand is situated in the Bushmanland,
with its spacious grassy plains surrounded by mountains.
Quiver trees stud the rocky hills that is frequented by klipspringers
that can often be seen from the road.
Handcraft:
The Kliprand Senior Citizens Club manufactures textile painting
items and the Kliprand Needlework Group uses solar power
to drive the sowing machines with which they manufacture
clothing. Their specialty is small workers overalls for
children.
Oom Hans Gouws still practises the art of manufacturing
tin violins and these can be viewed at his house, he plays
these instruments equally well.
Natural environment:
Several species of reptiles are found around Kliprand, two
of them Red Data species, the rare armadillo lizard and
the padloper tortoise. Plans are underway to establish
a reptile interpretation centre at Kliprand.
