Namaqua National Park Coastal Area Report

Hi all,

Update from Namaqua National Park: Total rainfall July 2010: 41mm The coastal sections of the park have beautiful flowers and variety (see attached pics taken on 29/07/2010). We did not travel the other local coastal areas, but I am sure it looks similar. The park section between the Groen and Spoeg river can only be travelled with a 4×4 vehicle, and it is recommended that you travel from north to south for the best views of the flowers. The Skilpad section already has substantial flowers, but it has been 2 weeks since the last rains. The dominant flowers is the Orange (Namaqua) daisies (Ursinia sp). Visitor numbers to Skilpad has been very low, compared to the previous year. It seems as if the season is later than the previous year.
