Saturday, August 29th, 2009FLOWER REPORT 28/08/2009
Saturday, August 29th, 2009Dear friends, As I’m sitting here writing this flower report, I have great difficulty describing the AWESOME display of flowers I witnessed yesterday (27th August) in Skilpad near Kamieskroon. This is definitely the spot to view flowers in the Namakwaland area, it is simply breathtakingly beautiful! Please ensure that you have loads of film or memory cards for your cameras, you are certainly going to wish you had more. I’m of the opinion that the flowers will only last for another week or so. In other words, if you’re thinking of coming to see the flowers in Namakwaland, do so NOW! From there, I travelled in a westerly direction towards Soebatsfontein and through the basin of the Namakwa National Park towards Hondeklip Bay. Unfortunately, the flowers in this area has done there thing and little is to be seen if anything at all. I took a quick drive along the coast in Hondeklip Bay this morning (28th August) and happy to report that the flowers are still looking good in this area. For those that don’t know where Skilpad is, here are some directions that might help: From the N7, take the turn-off to Kamieskroon. At the T-junction, turn left. Continue with this road which passes under through the N7 for approximately 15km till you reach the 5km Skilpad circular route. Wishing you all a stunning day!
