Succulents

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Hi Guys, Just when we were thinking the flower show is over, after 2 days of sunshine and all the great rain before, out have come the succulents in all their glory. Cheers Mark and Steve Suttridge Guest Farm Vanrhynsdorp suttridge@vanrhynsdorp.co.za www.vanrhynsdorp.co.za

Hondeklipbaai Report 10 September 2008

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Dearest, Happy to announce another 6mm of rain over the last two days. Regret to report icy cold weather until Friday next when the last (hopefully) of the cold fronts should be gone - banished - over and done with! The flowers are still with us albeit a bit scraggly and on their way down. Maybe the rain and some sunny weather would revive them for another week or so? Keep well - it is almost time for yours truly to go to seed as well. Until next week. Regards from a cold but not so dry Hondeklibaai. Pelser trip Namaqualand

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

First of all I would just like to say “The Honnehok” is wonderful. It is really an outstanding place to stay and the people are great. Secondly, the flowers were really something. If you don’t make any effort of actually getting out of the car to have a close look at the flowers and plants, you’re really going to miss out on a lot of beautiful things. There weren’t as many flowers as there were in the Namaqua Park (also taking in consideration that it was cloudy) but there was a wider variety. We saw most of the flowers and plants on the 4×4 trail they (the people from “Hondehok”) sent us out on. It was quite an adventure, especially with the 4×2 that got stuck quite a lot J (The trail is definitely not meant for 4×2 vehicles ) The highlight of the trip was the Cape Fur Seals. We had the opportunity to get quite close to them to take some excellent photos. On our way to the seals, we got to see some Southern Right Whales, which was a big bonus for the day’s viewing. Regards, Yojani Pelser
