Spoegriver Communal Grounds 23 July 2007
Tuesday, July 24th, 2007The flowers in the gap on both sides of the road towards Spoegriver Village are developing rapidly. Plenty of Perdebosse, rapuisbosse en even here and there a t’nouroebossie. Especially the short legged dark cerise ones but also some bigger shrubs in light pink, cerise, white and yellow. The flowers in the area of the farm Windheuvel are now spectacular! Be brave and tackle the small roads and explore. A nice patch can also be seen below the ruins of Japie Ras’s old derelict house. To get there take the road out of Spoeg river village until you get to the open gate. Turn right and carry on for about 300m. Take the left hand road. Keep going to the third road left. Turn here and watch for a track to your left (about 300m). The road is clearly visible on the hillock where it passes a corrugated iron shack. Keep going towards the lonely Eucalyptus tree under which an old vehicle and another shack rests. Just before the shack a faint track goes to the right. Be careful here as there is an ant heap in the track. The flowers are here! Explore further on foot, have a picnic and enjoy! The attached photos taken at Oom Japie’s old house. Explore all the roads but be careful for ditches etc. This excursion will be well worth your while. Regards Rina Auret Aigab
